Mini Rapid Assessment -Issues Brief On the level of awareness and impact of Ebola outbreak on access, use and adherence to HIV treatment and preventive care, psychological and socioeconomic well-being of female sex workers in the Ebola High risk districts in Uganda
This report presents findings of the mini rapid assessment and issues brief conducted from 28th November 2022 to 15th Dec 2022, to examine the level of awareness of Ebola and the impact of its associated restriction guidelines on the access and adherence to HIV treatment and preventive care, psychological and soc ioeconomic well-being of female sex workersin the five Ebola High risk districts (that is; Kasanda, Mubende, Masaka, Kampala, Mukono and Wakiso) in Uganda and develop an issues brief in that context. This advocacy issue further spotlights some of the major challenges that were identified in controlling the Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) outbreak in the districts affected –which include; contact tracing, referral of suspected cases, and mistrust in the context of a weak health system. Community involvement and uptake of key interventions were very low, contributing to the spread of the epidemic due to the limited community participation.
