AWAC CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST
EXTERNAL AUDIT SERVICES FOR THE YEAR 31st DEC 2026 AND 31st DEC 2027
Briefly about AWAC Uganda
The Alliance of Women Advocating for Change (AWAC) Uganda is a feminist grassroots network led by women sex workers, established in 2015 to advance the rights, dignity, bodily autonomy, and wellbeing of marginalized women and gender-diverse communities across Uganda. AWAC works primarily in rural, peri-urban, and hard-to-reach settings including stone quarries, islands, landing sites, transit routes, and refugee settlements where women sex workers often face criminalization, stigma, violence, and exclusion. More than a service provider, AWAC is a feminist movement and system disruptor committed to amplifying community voices and advancing social justice.
AWAC’s core target populations include women sex workers facing multiple and intersecting vulnerabilities, including women living with HIV, women with disabilities, displaced women, women who use drugs, young women, aging sex workers, and lesbian and gender-diverse sex workers. The organization advocates for decriminalization, self-determination, bodily autonomy, and meaningful access to integrated, rights-based HIV prevention, treatment, care, tuberculosis, and sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR) services. AWAC also advances mental health justice, healing and collective care, climate justice, sustainable livelihoods, food sovereignty, and the prevention of gender-based violence, stigma, and structural inequality. AWAC is a collective of 57 grassroots member organizations and groups operating across 57 districts in Uganda. Through feminist movement-building, peer-led leadership, community organizing, and collective care approaches, AWAC has reached more than 38,000 women sex workers across the six regions of Uganda with life-affirming services, advocacy, psychosocial support, and community-led interventions that strengthen agency, resilience, health, freedom, and human rights.
As part of strengthening institutional accountability, transparency, financial governance, and donor compliance systems, AWAC invites qualified, competent, and experienced audit firms to submit Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the provision of external audit services for the financial years 31st Dec 2026 and 31st Dec 2027.
