The Alliance of Women Advocating for Change (AWAC) Uganda is a feminist umbrella network of grassroot Female Sex Worker (FSW) led organizations. With the mission: To build a resilient Female Sex Workers’ (FSW) movement that advocates for equitable and sustainable Universal Healthcare, and Promotion of Human Rights and Social Economic Justice in Uganda through our secretariat office in Kampala and Regional offices in Kyotera and Hoima AWAC works to amplify and spotlight the voices and work for FSWs with multiple and intersecting vulnerabilities operating in hard to reach, rural and peri-urban settings.
Scope of the consultancy
The consultant will work to enhance community awareness, knowledge and accurate information on monkey pox (Mpox) prevention, transmission, symptoms, care and available support services to at-risk populations and among vulnerable groups especially sex workers, track drivers and boda boda riders in Uganda. Furthermore, their mandate will be to promote understanding of Mpox and reduce stigma surrounding people affected by Mpox, focusing on vulnerable populations such as female sex workers, truck drivers and Boda Boda riders in most affected districts namely; Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono.
In addition they will document experiences and stories through a rapid assessment from communities affected by Mpox, to inform tailored interventions and health advocacy for UNDP, MoH and other key stakeholders.
In collaboration with other institutions, the consultant will contribute to strengthening community-based reporting and referral system for suspected Mpox cases among female sex workers, track drivers and boda boda riders in collaboration with local health facilities.

CONSULTANCY TO CONDUCT AN ASSESSMENT ON ACCESS TO AND UPTAKE OF CERVICAL CANCER SCREENING SERVICES AMONG WOMEN LIVING WITH HIV WLHIV, YOUNG WOMEN AND FEMALE SEX WORKERS WITH HIV, AND HPV VACCINATION FOR THE CHILDREN OF FSW AND PLHIV AMONG GIRLS 9-14 YEARS IN SEVEN DISTRICTS OF UGANDA

The expected timeframe for the project is 15 non-consecutive working days within November 30th -15th December of 2024. The assessment will be conducted across seven districts (Hoima, Masindi, Kamuli, Namayingo, Mayuge, Busia, and Bugiri) and involve WLHIV, FSWs with HIV, AGYW who engage in early sexual debut and caregivers of eligible girls.
