Regional discussions and processes can seem look-warmly impactful and sometimes out of touch from the ex-periences and realities at grassroots level. The resolutions and decisions made during these engagements some times have negligible effect on the realities and experiences at the grassroots because of the perceived disconnect between regional discussions, and realities of an ordinary person.
The 77th Ordinary Session of the African Commission on Human and People’s Right (ACHPR) –that took place in Arusha, Tanzania is a space that brings together State Parties to the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights, Organs of the African Union, National Human Rights Institutions, International Organizations, Non-Governmental Organizations and other stakeholders from a multiplicity of disciplines to follow up on the status of observance of human rights in the African Union member states on the continent, that ratified the African Charter and its protocols on Human and People’s Rights.
