We are pleased to present our Annual Report for the year 2022, which provides valuable insights into the lessons we have learned, important milestones we have reached, and the exceptional efforts made by our team and grassroots members. This comprehensive report demonstrates how AWAC effectively dealt with difficult situations like the Ebola outbreak and COVID-19, highlighting the importance of utilizing innovative approaches led by grassroots female sex workers to promote sustainable health and socioeconomic resilience.
“In 2022 CHLEGs grew to the tune of 22 groups having saved a cumulative total of UGX 600 Million. One of the most resounding milestones registered in the past year was the launch of the AWAC hub of Holistic transformation plan as well as the AWAC CHLEG Microfinance Deposit-Taking Institution (MDI) Concept during the 5th National Annual Sex Workers Dialogue (NASWD) 2022 and the Commemoration of the 16 days of activism to end violence against women and girls officiated by the US Ambassador Her Excellence Natalie Brown.” Ms. Macklean Kyomya --Executive Director -AWAC Uganda
