Call for Expression of Interest to Join AWAC grants peer review and performance committee

With support from the American Jewish World Service(AJWS), AWAC is implementing a project titled; “Bolstering organizational capacity for sex workers’ leadership in Uganda” through enhancing the capacities of grassroot female sex worker led organizations –in feminist movement building and grassroot organizing. It’s a groundbreaking programme that aims to strengthen sex worker’s feminist grassroot advocacy as a tandem to amplifying the voices of our grassroot rights holders in claiming their space, fundamental rights, challenging criminalization which fuels stigma, discrimination and violence of all forms; economic injustice marginalization and systemic exclusion.

This project has integrated community led models and interventions such as sub-granting AWAC grassroot network members to support them on advocacy campaigns in line with focus areas of  AWAC members’ Sex Workers Feminist Advocacy Agenda (SWoFAA), SDG 2030 agenda, and generation equality, that work in pursuance of bodily autonomy and integrity, challenging criminalization which fuels stigma, discrimination and violence of all forms; economic injustice, systemic exclusion and celebrate the power of female sex worker's rights activism, feminist solidarity and youth leadership to achieve transformative change.

Through “the bolstering organizational capacity for sex workers’ leadership”, the secretariat is on the lookout for requests from dedicated grassroot members and grant-making experts to be part of AWAC grants peer review and performance committee from the female sex worker fraternity, those with intersecting and multiple vulnerabilities and human rights defender activists.

Peer reviewers will collaboratively work with their fellow peers to evaluate grant applications objectively, based on the technical and financial bid evaluation criteria provided.
